The best kids piano songs are those that use only the white keys. The reason for this is that kids find the black keys confusing at first. The white keys at least form a nice even stairway, with each white key uniformly 3/4 inch wide. Familiarity is another factor. Kids don't want to play songs they have never heard before. Many piano teachers make the mistake of using a standard beginning piano book, like Faber, Alfred or Bastien. The problem with these books is that they are filled with "fake" music designed to teach note reading, fingering and a host of other subjects best left for later.
